Pawan Sinha details his groundbreaking research into how
the brain’s visual system develops. Sinha and his team
provide free vision-restoring treatment to children born
blind, and then study how their brains learn to interpret
visual data. The work offers insights into neuroscience,
 engineering and even autism.

This on has already made it’s rounds for a while, but it bears repeating. Fascinating stuff on introspecting how the strange black black box of our visual system takes constructs the world we perceive.

Your daily dose of meta.

Your daily dose of meta.

Mihaly Czikszentmihalyi on flow

Google Tech Talk by Steven William Fowkes concerning how to better nourish your brain and improving how you think. A bit lacking on real, actionable advice at times, and the video seems to keep stalling, but overall quite good. Includes:

Which nutrients promote optimal brain function?

What nutrients are commonly deficient enough to impair mental performance?

How can you get a better nights sleep without Ambien?

What nutrients counteract aspects of aging?

Is there an alternative to serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SRI) antidepressants?

What modern nutrition myths lead us to consume products that sabotage healthy brain function?

What tests can you get from your doctor?

What nutrients affect appetite, alertness, and tension?

Based on interviews with 30 neuroscientists, he’s developed strategies to help you work smart all day.
